What We Do

Through our Civic Foundation we’re developing a comprehensive and engaging civics curriculum to present in high schools, in college classrooms, and at informal meet-ups of young people and millennials across Miami-Dade. Plus our organizing team works with student and community leaders holding civic-activist trainings and workshops on how to organize effectively, connect with voters, and engage civically in local government.

With the Foundation’s repMIA project we’re connecting millennials and getting out important details of local government in Miami-Dade like what’s happening at commission meetings and how everyday citizens can participate in their local government in ways that matter to them, from understanding zoning to advocating for positive neighborhood amenities like wide sidewalks that provide safety and encourage healthy activity.

We make sure young voters get registered across college campuses in Miami, and that young people have the ability and motivation to cast their vote once they’ve registered. Plus, our organizers along with our trusty volunteers, hand out nonpartisan voter guides that break down the candidates views in easy to understand terms.

Through our Foundation we’re cultivating meaningful storytelling as a pathway to civic understanding and ultimately action at the local level. And we nurture community by facilitating civic-minded meet-ups at campuses across Miami-Dade College.
